Western Region Celebrates it's first meeting in the new HQ building

The Western Region celebrated it's first meeting in the new HQ Building with an excellent lecture given by Bryan Radford on:
Underwater Photography

Brians lecture was to say the least inspirational. His images of underwater life were a joy to see and coupled with the supply of information and antidotes that accompanied each slide he really made the subject come alive. The problems of photography in a marine environment were discussed, conservation issues were raised. We were entertained with interesting aspects of the lifestyle of many of the animals shown and it soon became clear that even before the suba diver armed themselves with a camera they had to have a detailed knowledge of the life under the waves. Bryan completed his lecture with a question session which dealt mainly with the equipment used and the optical problems encountered when using cameras underwater.

If you get an opportunity to hear Bryan speak I assure you that your journey will be well rewarded.

The Regions thanks go to :

Bryan Radford for his exciting lecture

HQ Staff:

Stuart Blake who made it all possible (in spite of the fitting out of the building being incomplete).

Lesley Goode (Exhibition Manager), who was there to welcome us.

Western Region:

John Long who acted as RO for the day

John Hankin who quietly made sure that all of the gadgets worked (The lighting totally high tech.)

And when the fire Alarm unexpectedly went off:

Web Site Editor (Who knew where to find the control panel)

Bryan Radford (visiting speaker) who found the reset control codes pencilled on the wall.

A great start to a new chapter in the life of the Royal Photographic Society.
